BDG Foundation extends Philanthropic Mission
to Health Sector

Lives of children saved. Fully funded surgeries for children with Congenital Heart Disorder in
collaboration with Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres for Child Heart Care

Bikram Dasgupta Foundation (BDG Foundation) expanded its philanthropic mission to the Health Sector pan India, since COVID times. We had given free COVID survival kits to several old age homes, donated several life-saving machines needed for COVID patients in various hospitals. Now Bikram Dasgupta Foundation has extended its help to save lives of children born with Congenital Heart Disorder (CHD) which is life threatening. Death is inevitable for such children at a very young age if they are not operated. However, such operations are extremely costly for the average Indians and can run up to 1.5 lakh each. Most parents in rural or semi-urban India are unable to afford such a cost and helplessly witness their children dying. In India 1 out of 100 children are born with CHD every year. This statistics shows how many children are out there, who require this live saving surgery at the earliest.

Our mentor Bikram Dasgupta

was moved when he stumbled upon this statistics while meeting well-known Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar is one of the trustees of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres for Child Heart Care that conducts such surgeries completely free of cost. But they need constant funding to support such surgeries. BDG promised to help and this year Bikram Dasgupta Foundation has spent around 20 lakh, supporting surgeries of 15 such children born with CHD. This is an ongoing philanthropic mission and BDG has promised to help more and more children in the years to come. We were moved beyond words when the parents of these children, whose surgeries were supported completely free by Bikaram Dasgupta Foundation, came forward over a zoom meeting to thank our mentor and the Foundation for saving the lives of their children.
