Entrepreneur Co-Creation model : SKILLS

March 26, 2013 7:33 am Published by Leave your thoughts

This blog is further to my earlier blog on skills. We ended that blog with the formation of Globsyn Skills. The team got formed and areas of work identified. But the key question was: How do we proliferate this? Do we create our own centers all over the states? How do we manage, so many different skills? When I was going through this thought process and my hunger and desire to make a difference to many sections of the society as also work with others together to build this, gave me the idea, to explore a new kind of thinking.... Relentless pursuit of opportunities : SKILLS

March 26, 2013 7:27 am Published by Leave your thoughts

People like you do business with internal contradictions. Which is one of the reasons, many of us do not build a large organization unlike Reliance or Infosys. Different approaches, but both hugely successful. One works on clearing the blocks to grow and the other took some quick right decisions to grow laterally, through IPOs, ADR, GDRs, etc. and then use that money wisely, with astute man management. For many of us, pursuing our passion takes a lot out of us and at times become over encompassing to grow laterally. As a result, it could be a snake and ladder game... View Article

What is the best way to manage people?

March 26, 2013 7:18 am Published by Leave your thoughts

There is no Straight Jacket formula. There is always this thought that we need to tell our people what to do. Then there is this thought, that, if you give them freedom and not micro-manage, they perform better. I have over this period in time, experienced that neither is absolutely true. It is a queer mix, which evolves in your style of working over the years, your own learning curve, your ways of handling people, and your ability to think above self, which creates a chemistry you and your team are most comfortable with. You tend to follow that. Another... View Article

I Keep serving my clients: the Youth

When I went to Harvard at this ripe age in 2007, there was something which was bothering me. It was the ability to govern a complex organization which is growing. There were so many gaps in me, which needed to be bridged. My wife also reminded me one day, “Who do you learn from every day? Everyone seems to be looking up at you to learn.” That’s when I decided, I must discover more learning for myself, and went to Harvard Business School. Sat in a classroom for 3 years, going back every year, till my graduation from such a... View Article

Remembering Dev Saab, today….

March 26, 2013 6:56 am Published by Leave your thoughts

I liked everything about him. His style, his grace, his dress sense, his naughty smile, his love for good looking girls, everything. There was an inane purity about whatever he did. Even when he talked about his affairs and women in his life, he said those with so much grace, openness and class. He was an icon to me. Something, or someone, I wanted to become, not as a profession but as a persona. No one will call Dev Saab, a Casanova. He was not one, but he was an admirer of beauty, in fact all things which are beautiful... View Article

WHEN POLITICAL WINDS CHANGED IN BENGAL

March 26, 2013 5:50 am Published by Leave your thoughts

In Management jargons it was probably ‘disruptive’ Yes, there is a significant and major disconnect in Bengal polity. In our Management jargons, we perhaps would prefer calling it ‘disruptive’ or ‘discontinuity,’ where one doesn’t move in linear fashion, but has a significant discontinuity and reboot situation. That is what is happening with the advent of Mamata Banerjee in Bengal’s political leadership, through a clean sweep in electoral polls, wiping out the 34-year-rule of the Left Front government. Some would say, they saw it coming. Some would say, it is the negative vote. But this time, as I witnessed the power... View Article

CAN I CHANGE THE COURSE OF MY LIFE?

March 26, 2013 5:23 am Published by Leave your thoughts

Can I bask in fresh rains, float with the clouds and enjoy music? I have travelled through my life, with a lot of verve, energy, passion and at times worked at break-neck speed. This is with reference to how others saw it. In my case, I was trying to do ‘something’ all these years. I have started asking this question now to myself, what was I seeking? All of us, are a victim of our own upbringing. Our insecurities get transplanted inadvertently through our parents into us and we start living that life, a life that is not completely our...
